This policy lists the cookies and similar browser storage that CS2GamblingReviews uses, what each one does, and how you can control them. The list is short. Our own analytics don't use cookies at all.
1. What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser and reads back on later visits. Local storage is a similar browser feature that lets a site save small pieces of data on your device. Unlike cookies, local storage isn't sent to the server with every request. We use both in a limited way, and this policy covers both.
2. Everything we use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | When it's used |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| site_lang | First-party cookie | Remembers your language preference | 12 months | When a language preference is saved |
| theme | Local storage | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme | Until you clear it | When you switch theme |
| cookie_consent | Local storage | Records your answer to the consent banner so we don't ask on every page | Until you clear it | Only when the consent banner is shown |
| adm_sess | First-party session cookie | Keeps site administrators signed in to the admin area | Until the session ends | Site administrators only |
| _ga | Google Analytics cookie | Distinguishes visitors for Google Analytics | Up to 2 years | Only if Google Analytics is enabled and you consent |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics cookie | Keeps track of your session for Google Analytics | Up to 2 years | Only if Google Analytics is enabled and you consent |
3. Functional cookies and storage
site_lang, theme and cookie_consent exist only to remember choices you've made. They don't identify you, aren't used for analytics or advertising, and aren't shared with anyone. Because they're needed for features you've asked for, we don't ask for consent before using them.
adm_sess is a session cookie that lets site administrators sign in to manage content. It's strictly necessary for that purpose, and ordinary visitors never receive it.
4. Analytics
4.1 Our own analytics use no cookies
Our first-party analytics don't set cookies or use local storage. Visits are counted with a daily identifier made by hashing your IP address and user agent together with a salt that changes every 24 hours. Nothing is stored on your device, and your raw IP address is never stored. Our privacy policy explains this in full.
4.2 Google Analytics 4 runs only with consent
Google Analytics 4 is disabled by default. If the operator of CS2GamblingReviews turns it on, a consent banner appears, and the _ga and _ga_* cookies are set only if you accept. If you decline, Google Analytics doesn't load. Google's handling of that data is covered by Google's privacy policy.
5. Cookies set by sites we link to
When you click through to a gambling site, Steam or any other external site, that site may set its own cookies, including cookies that record the referral from us. Those are controlled by the other site and covered by its own cookie policy, not this one. We don't place advertising cookies on our own pages.
6. How to control cookies and storage
6.1 Changing your consent
If the consent banner is active, your answer is saved in cookie_consent. To change it, clear this site's data in your browser using the steps below. The banner will appear again on your next visit, and you can choose differently. If you're withdrawing consent for Google Analytics, clearing site data also deletes any _ga cookies already set.
6.2 Browser settings
All major browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and site data:
- Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, where you'll find the cookie and site data options.
- Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data.
- Mobile browsers: usually under Privacy or Site settings in the browser's menu.
Clearing site data also removes local storage entries such as theme and cookie_consent. If you block cookies completely, the site still works, but it won't remember your language choice and may show the consent banner on every visit.
You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which stops Google Analytics on every site you visit.
7. Changes to this policy
If we add, remove or change a cookie or storage entry, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
8. Contact
